Privacy Policy

Summary: Audio recorded or analysed on this site never leaves your device. We do not transmit, store, or receive any audio. The data we do collect is limited to standard analytics and advertising signals described below.
1. Audio data
TestMyAudio.com uses the Web Audio API and MediaRecorder API to process audio directly in your browser. In practice, this means:
- Microphone input is read by your browser and analysed on your device.
- Anything you record with the Record & Playback feature lives only in your browser tab's memory.
- Closing or refreshing the page discards that recording. There is no upload step.
- We do not operate any server that receives, transcribes, or stores your audio.
We have no technical way to hear, retrieve, or share your audio sessions.
2. Information we collect
What we do collect is limited to operating the site and supporting advertising:
- Usage analytics — page views, feature interactions, and aggregated statistics.
- Device and connection data — browser type and version, operating system, screen size, language, approximate location (country/region level), and IP address.
- Referrer data — the page or search query that brought you to the site.
- Email content — only what you choose to send when you write to us.
We do not collect audio recordings, account credentials, names, payment details, or any other personal identifiers beyond what is listed above.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our advertising and analytics partners use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for the purposes below. A more detailed breakdown is available on our Cookies page.
- Strictly necessary — to keep the site functioning and remember your consent choices.
- Analytics — to understand which features are used and where errors occur.
- Advertising — to fund the site and, where allowed, deliver more relevant ads.
Your browser's settings let you block or clear cookies at any time. The core audio tools continue to work without cookies.
4. Advertising and Google AdSense
This site is supported by advertising. Advertising partners may include Google, through Google AdSense, and other ad networks contracted by our publisher partner.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
- You can also opt out of personalised advertising from many participating vendors at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.
- Google's wider advertising practices are described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be presented with a consent prompt that lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies before any personalised advertising is served.
5. Other third-party services
Beyond advertising, we use a small number of third parties to keep the site running:
- Google Analytics — aggregated usage measurement.
- Ezoic — site speed, ad placement, and analytics.
- A consent management platform — to record and respect your cookie preferences in supported regions.
- Hosting and CDN providers — to deliver pages, fonts, and scripts.
Each provider operates under its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing those policies if you want detail about how a specific vendor handles data.
6. Browser permissions
Audio tests use the microphone permission your browser grants. When you accept the prompt:
- Permission is scoped to this site and revocable at any time from your browser's site settings — see our browser-by-browser walk-through for the exact steps.
- Microphone capture only starts after you click a test button.
- The site never gains access to camera, files, location, or any device sensor outside the microphone.
7. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you have specific rights over your personal data. Because we collect very little personal data, most requests reduce to opting out of analytics or advertising cookies, which you can do directly through the consent banner or by clearing site cookies.
- EEA / UK — right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing.
- California (CCPA / CPRA) — right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- Other regions — equivalent rights may apply under your local law.
To exercise any of these rights, write to the privacy contact listed below. We may need to confirm the request relates to data we actually hold; we cannot delete audio because we never receive any.
8. Data retention
We keep data only as long as it serves the purpose for which it was collected:
- Aggregated analytics — typically retained for up to 26 months and then either deleted or anonymised further.
- Advertising signals — retained according to each ad partner's own retention rules; consult their policies for specifics.
- Email correspondence — kept for as long as needed to answer your message and to comply with any legal obligation, then deleted.
9. Children's privacy
The audio tools are usable by all ages, but the site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our contact email, write to us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers and security
The site is delivered through global content-delivery networks, so requests may be served from data centres outside your country. Connections use HTTPS. We rely on standard contractual clauses and the security commitments of our service providers to protect data in transit.
11. Changes to this policy
This page is reviewed periodically and updated when our practices, vendors, or regulations change. The "Last reviewed" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use after a change implies acceptance of the updated policy.
